Landa Derington was born April 18, 1961, to James Edward and Nancy Elizabeth (Mayfield) Gililland in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She passed away, Sunday, March 5, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Viewing will be at 12 PM, Friday March 10, 2023, and Funeral Service will be at 1 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Sid Sides of Abundant Life Church of Artesia will officiate, and interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section).
Landa graduated Carlsbad Senior High in 1979. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, going to garage sales, collecting hummingbirds, playing bunko and spending time with family and friends. Her grandkids were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Nancy Gililland of Carlsbad, granddaughter Heather Catlin and Niece Shelly Bird.
Landa is survived by her children: Melissa Magby and husband Jimmy, Ryan Vick and wife Destrey and Amanda Derington; bonus daughter Kenna Peyton; grandchildren: Kaleb Catlin, Keegan Catlin, Celine Martinez, Elisabeth Martinez, Jayton Vick and Cooper Vick; siblings: Dick Gililland and wife Trudy, Bethany Jones and husband Andrew and Jonathan Gililland and wife Sandra as well as many nieces and nephews.
