He is survived by sons Stephen Kenneth (Ken) Fields and wife Linda Fields, William Thomas (Tom) Fields and wife Monica Fields; grandkids April, Daniel, Amy, Julie, Chris, Michael, Stephanie, Richard, Brandon, Gabby, Cheyenne, and Cierra, and several great grandkids; extended family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Denver, Desmond, Sam and Roy and sisters Thelma, Callie, Ruby, Dollie and Winona; his two children Richard Alan Fields, and Mary Patricia Collins.
Bill entered the U.S. Air Force before he graduated High School at age 17. He served during the Korean War. After his tour of duty was over, he settled down and married Audrie Mallman in Kalamazoo Michigan where they both attended Western Michigan University and he worked for the Nabisco Biscuit Company.
They soon moved to Encinitas, California where he was employed by General Dynamics. He had many close friends and associates in California where he was a member of the Elks Lodge. The family then moved to Olivenhain, California where his entrepreneurship took shape, and he owned several Atlantic Richfield Service Stations. Upon return to his hometown of Jay, OK in the late 70's early 80's he saw the need for a drive-in and built the Bionic Drive-In of Jay. It soon became The Big Chick with the emphasis being fried Chicken which he became a master of cooking it. He sold the property to the neighboring grocery store and became interested in the tow rope business.
He started Western Marketing and Manufacturing and made Jay, OK the tow rope capitol! He sold his product all over the U.S. with contracts with coops and Napa's and various feed stores and auto stores in the Midwest and upper Midwest. His friends and family became a big part of his later life and loved fishing and being outdoors. We are sure there is a big reunion in Heaven with fiddle music playing in the background.
