Carl E. Borseth; 67 year old retired, died Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the Decorah hospital after being in poor health for the past eight years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 pm at the Winneshiek funeral home & at 2:00 at the First Lutheran Church, Rev. R.A. Ofsteadal officiating. Burial will be in the Decorah Lutheran cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Arthur Syverson, Ingolf Hovey, Harry Lensch Jr., Pete Hamre, Raydar Smith, & George Jevne. The floral committee includes Ruth Lensch, Myrtle White, Edith Kloback, & Esther Stegen.
Carl Borseth was born April 24, 1884 at Calmar [Winneshiek county, Iowa], the son of Eric & Mary Borseth, both deceased. He purchased the Borseth homestead farm in Springfield township in 1916 where he lived until his retirement in 1949. For the last three years, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Harry Lensch, of Springfield township. He recieved his education in Winneshiek county rural schools.
On Feb. 13, 1918, he married Ida Erickson in Glenwood township [Winneshiek county, Iowa] with Rev. Scarvie officiating. They became the parents of 7 children. The are Mrs. Harry (Sadie) Lensch, Decorah; Mrs. Melvin (Arla) Brown, Rockford, Ia; Norman, Decorah; Clifford, Decorah; Merle, serving with the armed forces in Heidelberg, Germany; and Stanley, Decorah. One son, Donald, is deceased.
Surving Mr. Borseth are 6 children, 3 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Caroline Haga; Ida Petterson; & Gertrude Stevens, all of Decorah; & 4 brothers, Emil of Cresco; Martin Borseth, Waukon; Clarence Borseth, Decorah; & Louis Borseth, Waukon.
1 sister & 1 brother preceded her [him]in death.


Carl & Ida had 7 children together: Sadie Marlys (b. 1920), Arla Mae (b. 1921), Norman Oscar (b. 1923), Clifford Edward (b. 1925), Merle Orlando (b. 1927), Stanley Ardell (b. 1931), & Donald Wayne (b. 1932).
