GOTT'S COVE – Funeral services for Mrs. Merelia Gotte, 95, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Miller French Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Dardar officiating.
Burial will be in Miller French Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home and from 8 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Mrs. Gotte died at 4:35 a.m. at Jeff Davis Living Center.
She was a lifelong resident of the Evangeline-Gott's Cove community and a member of Miller French Baptist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Richard Gotte and his wife, Maisie, of Evangeline, Hubert Gotte and his wife, Bobbie, Earl Gotte and his wife, Marie, Clarence Gotte and Floyd Gotte and his wife, Pat, all of Gott's Cove; five daughters, Betty Manuel and her husband, Wally, of Jennings, Merna Trahan and her husband, Charlie, of Elton, Verbie Miller and her husband, Jim, of Gott's Cove, Sharley Fruge and her husband, Steve, of Westlake and Brenda Gotte of Iota; one brother, Curley Phall of Lake Charles; one sister, Mrs. Verdie Robbins of Conroe, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Belle Gotte.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wiley Gotte; her second husband, Adam D. Gotte; one son, Marion Gotte; three grandsons, Patrick and Kirt Gotte and Jared R. Miller; one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Gotte; one sister, Mabel Soileau; and her parents, Mrs. Leona Teal Miller and Mr. Albert Walker.
