YOUNGSTOWN – Esther Bilon, 82, of South Osborn Avenue, passed away Saturday morning at Omni Manor Nursing Home. She will be sadly missed by all who know and loved her.

Ester was born May 21, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Musichak Kaishton, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Alex Patrick.

She was a graduate of Chaney High School and a lifelong area resident.

She was a homemaker and also was a bookkeeper at Benada Aluminum products in Girard.

Mrs. Bion was a member of St. Ann Ukrainian Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church. While at Holy Trinity, she was an instructor for the children making their first communion and an organizer and member for the St. Anne Guild.

Esther was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage. She and her husband, Michael, hosted the Ukrainian Radio Hour on WKTI, Radio in Struthers for 25 years, after the death of their son, Pat, who started the program. She also operated a Ukrainian artifact store for many years. She was a member of the Ukrainian National Association Branch 119, the Ukrainian Providence Association and the League of Ukrainian Catholics, where she was honored by Bishop Loston of Stamford, Conn., at Lady of the Year Esther also served as lay beautification director for Bishop Andrew Shiptisky.

She leaves her husband. Michael C. Bilon, whom she married Jan 20, 1945; a sister, Ann Bzinak of Girard; and many nieces and nephews.
Her son, Pat Bion; two brothers, John and Theodore Patrick; and a sister, Mary Petho, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Median Road in Youngstown, where prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

There will be funeral services at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Anne Church.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
