Nancy (Porterfield) Johnson, age 90, of Newark, Ohio, passed away on March 22, 2023, at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.
She was born on December 23, 1932 in Bladensburg to the late Dwight and Mary (Baker) Porterfield. Nancy graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1950, where she was the first homecoming Queen. She was always interested in all sports and school activities that her children and grandchildren were involved with.
She loved to travel, especially on the cruise ships. Nancy worked with her husband for several years operating the family oil and gas business. She married C. Guy Johnson on June 8, 1951, whom preceded her in death in March 1976; along with her sister, Joyce (Porterfield) Mosholder on March 11, 2017.
Nancy was a long standing member of the Grange for some 60 years, along with her membership with the Oil and Gas Association.
She is survived by three children, Rodney (Carol) Johnson of Miramar Beach, FL, Debra (David) Sinclair of Fort Myers, FL, and Rick (Marla) Johnson of Bladensburg; six grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Tony Johnson, Joe Divan, Mike Sinclair; eight great-grandchildren, three brothers, George (Kay) Porterfield, Hugh (Connie) Porterfield, Bill (Judy) Porterfield; sister in law, Maxine (Johnson) Buckingham; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 11:00- 1:00PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Matt Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Bladensburg Cemetery.
