Mary Leva "Vee" McNabb, 83, of Sulphur, LA unexpectedly went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Mrs. Vee was born on September 3, 1939, in Lake Charles, LA to Sylvan and Edna Aucoin.
Mrs. Vee enjoyed being around family and friends and living every day with love and faith, demonstrating it in so many ways daily. She will always be known for her faith, hard work, and love. Southwest Louisiana will remember her most for her iconic donuts as owner of Vee's Donut Shop for over 31 years. She touched many lives in the community of which she lived, and baked, for more than 50 years. She had a true servant's heart and could be found in the early morning hours cooking and praying for the ones whom she would meet that day. To know her was to love her. Vee loved her family, cooking and "hogging" new great grandbaby Reya's love, enjoyed mowing grass, praying for people, and adored working alongside her daughter at Catina Couture Boutique after her retirement.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Samuel McNabb and wife Amalia, David Stutes and daughter-at-heart Missy Amidon, Catina Coats and husband Lewis, a.k.a "baby boy", special caretaker and son-at-heart of which she was extremely fond of; her beloved fur baby CoCo, four grandchildren, David Stutes and fiancée Brianna Peoples, Jake Stutes and husband Luke Powell, Carri McNabb and Terri McNabb; great grandchildren, Reya Stutes and Matthew Stutes; nieces and nephews, Pamela Johnson, Anna Hanks, Harry Aucoin, Judy Gorman, Russell Aucoin, Mike Aucoin, Lenora Landerman, Anthony Landerman, Jerry Landerman, Barbara Esta McLeod and Mickey Landerman.
Mrs. Vee is preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond McNabb; parents; son, Sidney Stutes; siblings, Norris Aucoin, Nora Lee Badon, Dorris Aucoin, Randolph Aucoin, Pearl Landerman, and Mary Hanks.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Cremation will follow services under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Pastor Todd Schumacher will officiate.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt "thank you" to Dr. Christopher Thompson along with the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital Emergency Room Staff for their lifesaving efforts.
Mrs. Vee was forever grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hollier for their friendship throughout the years. Their support provided her with the opportunity to open Vee's Donuts in its original location on East Napoleon Street in Sulphur. She attributed their kindness and support to her success.
