Delma (a twin to one of his 17 siblings), was born to Nonnie & Jim Hicks, on December 27, 1937, in Mt. Airy. He is retired from Reynolds Tobacco where he worked as a machinist for over 30 years. After retirement he had a tree cutting business and he also enjoyed spending most of his time working on his farm in Clemmons, NC raising cattle.
Aside from his hard work ethic, he served as a member of the NC Masonic Lodge in Lewisville NC. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Winston-Salem NC. Delma and his wife also enjoyed hosting annual Chicken Stews, traveling, shag dancing and playing cards with their close friends at the Moose Lodge.
Delma is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, his three sons and two beloved grandchildren. Delma leaves behind his beloved dog Coco who he treasured during his last years of life.
The Family would like to thank all the members of the Trellis Supportive Care Team at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and South team who cared for him in his last weeks of life.
Services will be held 11am-1200 pm at Hayworth Miller, Silas Creek Parkway on March 31, 2023 with burial directly following at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons NC.
