Miss Jacqueline Walden passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, KY. She was ninety-three years old. Miss Walden was born November 15, 1929 in London, KY, the daughter of the late, Henry Walden and the late Dezzie McKnight Walden. Miss Walden was a teacher in Leslie County Schools. In the early 1950's she began her teaching career in Greasy at White Oak, then Laurel Creek, one-room schools. She took leave to earn a bachelor's, then a master's degree at Eastern Kentucky University. She returned to Leslie County in 1959 to teach US history at Leslie County High School until her retirement in 1980.

During her summer breaks, Miss Walden furthered her studies in history at the University of Kentucky earning thirty hours beyond her master's. He was widely admired and respected by her thousands of students, She enjoyed reading, gardening, playing golf and above all, thoroughbred racing especially at Keeneland.

Jacqueline Walden was preceded in death by her beloved parents and a cherished brother John Henry Walden.
