Funeral services for Cleo D. Allen, 89, of Cairo, GA will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Capel Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery. Cleo passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Cleo was born on October 16, 1933, in Clarksville, FL, to the late W.H. Dawson and Minnie Ola Fowler Dawson. She retired from the Grady County Board of Education after enjoying a long career at Shiver Elementary School. She also worked hard as a devoted housewife and loving mother. Cleo was a member of Capel Baptist Church.
Cleo's survivors include: husband of Cairo, GA (married March 5, 1951); her two daughters and their husbands of Ty Ty, GA and Cairo, GA; a son and his wife of Cairo, GA; a son-in-law Waycross, GA; 4 grandchildren and a grandchild in law of Cairo, GA, Tifton, GA, and Columbia, AL; 5 great grandchildren of Cairo, GA, Tifton, GA, Thomasville, GA, and Whigham, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda Wiggins; son-in-law, Hurschel Harrison, Jr.; an infant grandson; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
