Helen Brady Owens was born July 21, 1930 in Fairview, Utah to Mirven Elias Brady and Cristal Meredith Brady, the youngest of 6 children.

When she was 2 years old, the family moved to Boulder City, Nevada, joining an uncle and his family. It was the depression years, and her father and uncle worked on the Boulder Dam for 4 years. Returning to Fairview when she was 6, her father farmed until passing away 3 years later, a few months before she was 9.

Her mother worked as cook at school as well as sewing for others to make ends meet. Mom said although they were poor, they always had plenty to eat thanks to their garden and cow. She also said she was always well dressed thanks to her mother's talent with sewing.

She grew up part of a large, close-knit extended family who all lived nearby. Her immediate family was also very close and remained that way throughout her life.

She graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1948. After graduation she went to San Diego to live with her sister June and her family, working for her brother-in-law in his drapery business. In 1949, having saved enough money, she attended Fall semester at BYU. She then returned to San Diego to be with her mother who's health was not good.

She met Homer Franklin Owens in San Diego in 1951 at a church activity. They were married February 28, 1952 in the Mesa Arizona Temple, several months after her mother had passed away.

Upon Homer's discharge from the Navy, they moved to Salt Lake City were Homer attended college, later moving to Torrance, California where they lived for 38 years. They had 5 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and brother.

A homemaker most of her life, she also enjoyed and worked briefly in a candy store later in life. She loved flowers and gardening, cooking and trying recipes, watching old movies and visiting with friends and family. She is greatly missed.
