Seven-year-old Mitty Beebe was the daughter of Rev. George and Minerva Beebe, the minister to the fishermen of the town of Gosport, Star Island. She contracted a disease (possibly diphtheria or scarlet fever) while attending school on the mainland, and died along with two of her sisters.

Epitaph: "I don't want to die, but I'll do just as Jesus wants me to."
