Last Rites Held For Mrs. Tom Smart On Wednesday Afternoon

Death came to Mrs. Tom Smart Tuesday night after an illness which extended over several months and which had confined her to bed for many weeks.

Mrs. Smart was born in Mississippi on May 29, 1868. She came to Texas at the age of 16 and settled with her family in Erath County, later moving to Bell county, where she was married on January 6, 1889. Their golden wedding anniversary was celebrated last year.

At the age of 12 she became a member of the Baptist church and moved her membership to the Methodist church after she was married. She was a Christian woman, a good wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Sweet; two sons Roy Smart of Imboden, Arkansas, and Corley Smart of Cairo, Egypt; on brother, R. L. Coker of Arcadia; three grandchildren, and one great grandson.

Friends gathered at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 to pay their last respects. The services were conducted by Rev. V. B. Breazeale, and interment was in Bartlett cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Rowntree, Roy Hinds, J. E. Montgomery, Morgan Seale, Clough Shelton, Jr., and Bill Marquart.
