Woman Dies at Local Hospital; Funeral Will Be Held at Marshville Thursday Morning.
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Fortune Bailey, 54, widow of J. E. Bailey, formerly of Union county, who died in a Charlotte hospital Tuesday morning from pneumonia will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Marshville Methodist church under the direction of Dr. Ernest Neal Orr, pastor of the A. R. P. Tabernacle here, assisted by Rev. Mr. Clary, pastor of the Marshville church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The cortege will leave the J. M. Harry Service home Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Cleveland county and before moving to Charlotte in 1920 she lived in Marshville. In Charlotte she made her home at 1008 East avenue. Recently she was nominated by the republican party as a candidate for a seat in the North Carolina house of representatives.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Martin of Baltimore, Miss Lucile Bailey and Miss Frances Bailey of Charlotte, a son, J. E. Bailey of Charlotte, her father J. B. Fortune of Chicago; four brothers, Ralph of Lawrenceville, Ga., Roscoe of Chicago, Reid of Lanette, Ala., and Quay Fortune of Atlanta, and one sister, Mrs. C. T. Beard of Louisville.
