Obituary
Marion Ruth Brown, 97, of Coralville passed away April 5, 2023 at Windmill Manor, Coralville, Iowa.

Marion was born on March 27, 1926 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to Glenn and Ethel (Young) Betts. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School. She later married John Brown Jr. and together raised their three children before later divorcing. She eventually settled in Utah, where she lived for over 30 years.

Marion spent her career in the service industries, working well into her eighties. When she moved to Iowa City in 2009, she enjoyed walking everywhere no matter the distance. She was fiercely independent and will be missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Fred (Bonnie) Brown of Coralville, Iowa, Steve (Terry) Brown of Irvine, California, and Linda (Scott) Grow of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Alexander Brown, Adam Brownbird, Aubrey Brown, Jonathan Sommer, and Tyler Sommer; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles and William Betts; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents (Glenn and Ethel), four brothers (Donald, Glenn, George and John) and four sisters (Mary Jean, Rebecca, Nancy and Mildred).

Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private family burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.
