Elizabeth "Ish" Clevenger, wife of Michael Clevenger, and mother of Shay, Eloise, Mac, and Maisy, passed away early Sunday morning April 9th at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was the daughter of Christopher Sullivan Barrett and Sheila Kelly Barrett, both deceased, and the sister of Christopher Barrett, Michael Barrett, Peter Barrett, Kelly Barrett Andrew, Donal Barrett, and Daniel Barrett.
Elizabeth grew up in West Hartford, CT and attended Northwest Catholic High School where she excelled in soccer and basketball winning multiple State titles. After graduating in 1989, Ish attended Loyola University. Soon after graduation in 1993, Ish met Mike and they settled in Maryland, their home for the next 24 years, where they raised their four beautiful children. Ish was devoted to her children and enjoyed nothing more than watching them excel in athletics, especially lacrosse.
Ish was a lover of all animals from slugs to the deer who wandered through her yard, and, of course, her beloved pets, Baker, Finley, Cooper, and Charlie. Ish will forever be remembered for her easy smile, generosity, warmth, and love as a mother and wife. Her easy demeanor belied a fierce competitive streak that was evident to all in her battle with cancer.
The wake will be held at the Church of the Resurrection Chapel, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City, MD 21042 on Tuesday, April 11th from 4:00-7:00 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3755 St. Paul Street, Ellicott City, MD 21043 at 11:00 am on Wednesday April 12th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to Small Miracles Rescue, www.smallmiraclesrescue.org.
