Anne-Marie is the daughter of Jean Benoit and Marie-Anne Breau. She was born in about 1705, in Cobequid (present day Truro). She married Charles Dugas in 1724, in Acadie.

She and her family were on one of the "Cinq Paquebots Anglais" ("Five English Ships") - Yarmouth, Patience, Mathias, Restoration, John Samuel. They arrived in St-Malo on January 23, 1759.

Charles and two of his children died en route to France during the Acadian expulsion. The family is listed on the ship logs as follows:
