Aniseto de Jesus was was the son of Diego de Abeytia and Maria Josefa Armijo. Identified siblings were Maria Luisa, Maria Salome, and Maria Guadalupe.

First Lieutenant Aniseto de Jesus Abeytia served as second in command of Company C, 2nd New Mexico Infantry. The unit formed in Santa Fe during July and August, 1861. During July 1861, Lieutenant Abeyta was at Fort Fauntleroy (later re-named Fort Lyon after General Fauntleroy joined the Confederacy). On 30 Nov 1861, Lt Abeytia was posted at Fort Lyon (later re-named Fort Wingate) as the Post Adjutant. On 21 Feb 1862, the 2nd New Mexico Infantry saw action at the Battle of Valverde. From 13 to 22 April, the regiment was in pursuit of Confederate forces. On 15 April, the Battle of Peralta was engaged against Confederates forces retreating from the Battle of Glorieta. On 25 April, the Battle of Socorro was to remove the occupation of Confederates from the town taken during the Battle of Valverde. The 2nd New Mexico Regiment had duty in Central, Northern and Santa Fe Districts until May when the unit was consolidated with 1st New Mexico Infantry (Old) to form 1st New Mexico Cavalry May 31, 1862.

On 25 Aug 1890, Aniceto Abeytia filed for his military pension in New Mexico. His unit was recorded as "C 2 N.Mex Inf" (Pension Card).

In 1880, Santa Fe; lawyer Aniseto Abeytia and his wife Clara [Nieto] were enumerated with the following children: Pilar, Aniceto C., Simplicia, Dolores, Juana, Josefa, and Esperanza. Other identified children were Carmen and Francisco.
