Charles Albert Benson, age 55, died at Newell’s Infirmary in Chattanooga last Friday night, March 21, 1947, about 9:30 o'clock of heart trouble. The remains were brought to Scottsboro and were at the residence of his brother, Judge J. S. Benson, until the funeral hour Sunday afternoon at two o'clock when the services were held at the C. P. Church with the pastor, Rev. J. T. Jones, conducting. Interment followed in Cedar Hill I cemetery here with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Callie Stanfield Benson, of Scottsboro, he is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ovelle Benson, and granddaughter, Carolyn Benson of Crossville; two sisters, Mrs. Marshall Morton, Atlanta, Mrs. Ed Michaels, Hapeville, Ga.; three brothers, Judge J. S Benson, Senator John B. Benson, and Paul Benson, all of Scottsboro, and many other relatives. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Benson, of Langston, and was born in the Scottsboro community, his family moving to Langston shortly after his birth and residing there until both parents passed away several years ago.
