Abraham Byrd was the son of Mounce Byrd born 1807 VA and his wife Rachel Beydler b.ca. 1807 VA who married 11 Feb 1828 and lived in early Platte Co MO. The family is on the 1850 census with the following children: Abraham 21, Hannah 17, Edward 16, John 14, Samuel 12 and Mounces 6. Living next door in the 1860 census was William Byrd age 53 born VA and wife Mary age 45 born VA and the following children: Mounce 23, George 21, Virginia 17, Susan 11 mos Clara 8 mos and Emily 2 mos.

Abraham Byrd married 31 July 1856 in Platte co MO with Robert Scott, Minister-- Mary Permelia Kerr born Sept 1833, the daughter of James Kerr and his wife Alice (Elliott) Kerr who are buried in the McComas Cemetery, Platte Co MO (see Find a Grave.)

Abraham Byrd and his wife 'Permelia' (also nicknamed Millie) had two children born in Missouri:
Bertha Tullah Byrd born May 5 1857 who married William Harrison Brown
Lenard Leoce Ola Byrd born Oct 19 1861 MO died Jan 5 1942 Uvalde Co TX

The Abraham Byrd family was first in Platte Co MO, then Butler Co KS, then on into early Texas. After the death of her husband Abraham Byrd in 1893, the widow Mary Byrd was in the 1900 census for Zavala Co. TX living with her son. One researcher stated that Mary 'Permelia' (Kerr) Byrd died in 1906 and was buried beside her husband, however the only transcription available for the cemetery did not have her listed.
