Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Helen, or more lovingly known as Maw Maw, was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for forty-nine years. She was an active member who was committed to her faith.
She had many talents. One of her gifts was her ability to cook. But Maw Maw was more than just a great cook. She was a natural storyteller who could captivate an audience with her memories of growing up in Lafayette during the mid-1900s. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren as though they were her children and they loved her in return as a mother.
Her legacy is the love and warmth she brought to our lives and the memories we will forever hold dear.
Survivors include two sons, Milton Andrus and his wife, Mary, of Memphis, TN, and Ashton Andrus of Richmond, CA; one daughter, Betty Flugence and her husband, Clifton, of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Kellee Davis and her husband, Kevin, Kelsha Berard, Reggie Berard and his wife, Tanya, Lauren Flugence, Jaun Alexander and her husband, Joshua, Leslie Andrus, Robert "Bud" Andrus, Umoja Andrus, Imani Andrus and Nelwyn Andrus; thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Eula Alexander of Scott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Andrus; her parents, Leonce Arceneaux and the former Lucille Andrus; one son, Alton Andrus; one daughter, Mary Berard; three brothers, Curley Arceneaux, Theodore Arceneaux, and Joseph "June" Arceneaux; and four sisters, Wilda Wiltz, Mary Portalis, Hilda Senegal and Gertie Joseph.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (131 Sycamore Dr. Lafayette, LA 70506) from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
Melancon Funeral Home, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
