Grand Forks Herald, 10 March 1922 - James Mullally, former railway veteran, dies - Came to Grand Forks in 1879; Funeral plans not yet complete - James Mullally, 87 years of age, died at 8:45 o'clock Thursday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J H McNicol, 305 South Fifth Street, after a brief illness. He was in poor health for two years, but his condition did not become critical until last Friday. Deceased was born in Ireland on July 22, 1835. He was married at Perth Ont on June 2, 1859 and came to Grand Forks in 1879. The following year he moved to East Grand Forks where he resided until 1916, when Mrs. Mullally died. He then moved to Grand Forks and made his home with his daughter. He was employed with the Great Northern Railway as section foreman from 1880 until 1910, making his headquarters in East Grand Forks. As resident of that city, he ws prominent in all civic affairs. His influence was felt in many movements for the betterment and development of the civic and home life of that community, and he was one of the city's most prominent and respected citizens. Deceased is survived by six daughters and five sons. They are: Mrs. G Purcell, East Grand Forks; Mrs. A Wurdeman, Mandan; Mrs. M Curran, Mrs. Geo Shannon and Mrs. J H McNicol, of Grand Forks; Mrs. Alex Robinson, Rearville Alta; James Mullally, Staples, Minn; Edward Mullally Portland Ore; John and Dan Mullally, Grand Forks; and William Mullally, East Grand Forks.
