Alena was a plant supervisor for Baldor Electric. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church for many years.
Early in life, John worked for General Welding in East St. Louis, Illinois. By 1950, he was a welder for a tank manufacturer.
John passed away in 1995.
Alena celebrated her 100th birthday in November of 2022. She died the following March at the age of 100 years, 3 months and 27 days.
She was survived by 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law; 1 son; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 2 sisters.
In addition to her husband, Alena was preceded in death by her mother and father; 1 son-in-law, Gene Glandt; and 5 brothers, Leo Ayres, Henry Ayres, Sidney Ayres, Jr., Clark Ayres and Frank Ayres.
Visitation was held for 1 hour prior to the beginning of funeral services at 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of 30 Mar 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church on Manchester Road in Wildwood, Missouri.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church in lieu of flowers.
