Professional Football Player. Samuel Jennings was an English footballer and football manager, who was known for his prowess as a center-forward. Standing tall, he had a reputation as a goal-scoring machine, with an impressive record of a goal every two games. Jennings began his career playing for various amateur teams before signing with Norwich City in 1919. He then moved to Middlesbrough the following year and signed with Reading in 1921. It was during his three-year stint with Reading that he made a name for himself, scoring 45 goals in 110 league games. He then played for West Ham United before transferring to Brighton & Hove Albion in 1925. There, he continued to score prolifically, with 61 goals in 110 games. In 1928, he signed with Nottingham Forest before moving on to Port Vale in 1929, where he scored an impressive 42 goals in 63 league games. Jennings also played for Stockport County and Burnley in the 1930s before moving to France to play for Olympique de Marseille and Club Français. After retiring from playing, Jennings became a coach and manager. He managed Glentoran in 1936 and Rochdale the following year, leading the latter to a 17th-place finish in the Third Division North in 1937-38. He also worked as an instructor at Olympique de Marseille and served as a coach in both France and England. Jennings later became the secretary-coach at Wisbech Town and a coach at Glentoran. With a history of pneumonia twice, his cause of death was pleuritis according to his death certificate. He fought in World War II.

Gravesite Details

This was an ordinary grave so there is no headstone and other people who he was not related to are also laid to rest in the gravespace. The plot was later made private by another family who had a relative laid to rest there.
