Mr. Fickle was born at Fickle, Indiana, west of this city, on May 26, 1849, and at the time of his death, was past 81 years of age. He was a son of Stewart and Eliza Durham Fickle.
All his life had been spent in the vicinity of his birth where he attended the schools and worked on the farm. Entering into young manhood, he took up the carpentry profession.
On February 19, 1880, he was united in marriage with Ardena M. Green, and for many years, they resided near Fickle Station and later came to this city and established their home.
Surviving besides the widow are two sons and five daughters, Preston Fickle of Danville, Illinois, Robert Fickle of Charleston, Illinois, Mrs. William Ewbank of Van Buren, Indiana, Mrs. Fannie Irwin of Noblesville, Indiana, Mrs. Zella White of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Floyd Record and Mrs. E.P. Maddigan of this city. He is also survived by one brother, Samuel Fickle, of Columbia City, Indiana, and ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One son, Harry, preceded the father in death.
Funeral services will be conducted from the family residence at 308 Norht O'Neil street at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Wetzel will officiate, and interment will be made in the Greenlawn Cemetery.
