Elaine Russo was the sister of findagrave contributor Frank Russo. Elaine, my Guardian Angel, lived a short, tough life, but always seemed to be happy. She was born with Downs Syndrome. The children in our neighborhood often made fun of her, especially our neighbors, who threw rocks at her and beat her. Still, she was a great little girl who always smiled. Her favorite doll was Thumbalina, whom she carried with her all the time. Our father, Frank, used to call her "Dee Dee" as a nickname. She passed away from Congestive Heart Failure on Easter Sunday of 1964, a month shy of her 8th birthday. She is in a much better place now where no one can hurt her or make fun of her and where she can run and play free from worry. We love you Elaine, always.
