G. L. Reece, Fresno County Rancher, Dies
George L. Reece, 71, widely known retired rancher of the Tranquillity district, died yesterday in a local hospital in which he was a patient for one week.
Reece was born in Tennessee and came to Fresno County in 1920. He operated a ranch near Tranquillity until his retirement 13 years ago. Since then his large holdings, the principal unit of which is the Reece Brothers Ranch, have been operated by his sons. He made his home with one son, Herman C. Reece whose wife, Mrs. Sarah Ann Reece died five days ago.
His other surviving son is Thomas Reece. A third son, Glen Reece was killed in an airplane accident in May, 1945.
Also surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Grace Douty of Fresno, Mrs. Georgia Williams of Kettleman City, and Mrs. S.W. Denison and Mrs. L.T. Banta, both of Bishop; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Tinkler Mission Chapel with Rev. Will Rogers of Kerman officiating. Burial will be in the Belmont Memorial Park.

Other notes: George L. Reece married to Lydia Mahulda Barnard 15 Apr 1897 in Claiborne Co., TN. They lived in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Polk County, Oregon before moving to Fresno. after 1920. They had 9 children born to them, Clyde who died young in Tennessee, Herman, Bertha, Ivadell, Thomas, Grace, Georgia and twin boys, Glenn and "baby".
