Nellie became the wife of Charles Luther Romberger on October 7, 1884 and moved that day to Dwight, Illinois. She became mother of Emma Theresa Romberger. Also mother to one daughter (her eldest, apparently unnamed) who died in infancy, and a daughter Louisa, who died as a 12 year old child.
Becoming ill on Christmas, Nellie passed away December 28, 1906. Her condition seems to have stymied her doctors who diagnosed her initially with appendicitis and later said she passed of peritonitis. Her husband Charles followed her two months later, leaving their only surviving child and daughter, Emma, an orphan while she was away at school in Chicago.
