Mary C. Shimek, 58, of Robins died Friday, September 5, 2003, in her home of cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2003, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, by Pastor?s John Albertson and Susan Reihman. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Graveside Services: 3:00 p.m. Monday at Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard.

Surviving are her husband, Jimmy; four brothers, Thomas Erickson and wife Judy of Independence, John Erickson and wife Cleo of St. James, Minnesota, Harry Erickson and wife Diane of Elkader, and Edwin Erickson Jr. and wife Lois of Maynard; two sisters, Carolyn Frederick and husband Roger of Marion and Charlene Fairchild and husband Robert of Des Moines, Iowa.

Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Mary Stubbe and husband Dan of Marshalltown; a half-sister, Jetty Larson of Decorah; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Paul Erickson.

Mary was born the daughter of Edwin C. and Charlotte Schrader Erickson on December 25, 1944, in Sumner. On April 30, 1967, in Maynard, she was united in marriage to Jimmy F. Shimek. She graduated from Maynard West Central High School with the Class of 1963. Mary was employed at Rockwell Collins for over thirty-seven years. Mary was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion; Homemakers of Robins; and IBEW # 1362 for many years.
