Epam Mount, born in Virginia, was a 26-year-old single clerk when he enlisted on May 15, 1861, at Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was present at Seven Pines, May 31, 1862, and Savage Station, June 29, 1862, and wounded at Malvern Hill, July 1, 1862. He also was present at Maryland Heights, September 13, 1862, and Sharpsburg, September 17, 1862. 3rd Corp E. Mount was wounded December 11, 1862, at Fredericksburg. He was furloughed for 30 days beginning February 25, 1863, and is listed absent wounded through the summer 1863, and was reduced in ranks from Corporal to Courier to Gen. Humphreys on September 17, 1863. He was present detailed beginning with Chickamauga, September 20, 1863, through Wilderness, May 6, 1864. He was captured at Spottsylvania C. H., May 8, 1864, and was POW at Fort Delaware, Delaware. He died there of drowning on August 4, 1864.
