Ray was born January 24, 1935 in Ellington, Missouri. He was the son of Clarence and Lily (nee Collyott) Buxton.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Martha (nee Britt) Buxton, two (2) sons; Steven Buxton and Melvin (Kathy) Buxton, two (2) daughters; Susan (Rodney) Thompson and Karen (James) Theiss, nineteen (19) grandchildren, twenty-one (21) great grandchildren, and three (3) siblings; Elmer Buxton, Joy Buxton and Virgil (Marlene) Buxton.
Ray is preceded in death by, two (2) sons; Michael (Lorraine) Buxton and Kenneth Buxton, one (1) grandchild; Nicole S. Buxton, and eight (8) siblings.
Ray enjoyed family-oriented activities, such as reunions, holidays, camping, traveling, and gardening. He enjoyed reading western novels and watching western movies. Some of his fondest adventures were boating and fishing at Clearwater Lake and float trips down the Black River. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary at 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri 63016. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary followed by a Graveside Service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Cedar Hill, Missouri.
