Clorinda Chavez
1936-2006

Clorinda Chavez, age 69, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, July 6, after a long illness.

She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She formerly worked at Los Lunas Hospital and Training School as a caregiver.

Clorinda was the world's greatest cook. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and barbecuing.

Clorinda was preceded in death by her parents, Nestor J. and Delfinia Sanchez; sister, Joann and Vicky Sanchez; and a brother, Lawrence Sanchez.

She is survived by her children, Veronica Melinda Chavez, Anthony Chavez and his wife, Carol, Edwin Louis Chavez and his wife, Maxine, and daughter, Irene Chavez; her siblings, Rosendo Sanchez and his wife, Bertha, Joe Sanchez and his wife, Margie, Michael Sanchez, Leroy Olguin, Joseph Sanchez, Albert Sanchez, Angela Olguin, Pilar Willingham, Anita Cordova and her husband, Eusebio, and Elena Chavez; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who were the apples of her eye; special friends, Viola Pino, Belle Cavazos and Raul Castillo.

Clorinda was very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

1n Nov. 21, 1954 in Belen, she married Audilio Chavez of whom parents were Alfredo Chavez and Seferina Romero now deceased of Belen, New Mexico. Though the marriage didn't work out, she was always there for her in-laws. She would go once a week to make tortillas for them. Whenever there was a need , she was always there to help them out. The Chavez family truely loved her.

Cremation has taken place. Services for Clorinda will be held on Sunday, July 9, beginning with a visitation at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel.
