Branchville - Mrs. Elma Gibson Smoak, 80, widow of Leon Smoak, died Thursday in an Orangeburg nursing home. The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday from the chapel of Ott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery. Mrs. Smoak was born near Jenkinsville, a daughter of the late Brooks and Mrs. Sophie Jennings Fairey. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Surviving are: a son, Otis C. Smoak of Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Eva S. Padgett of Branchville and Mrs. Leona S. Fender of Smoaks; a brother, Ernest C. Corley of Augusta; Ga.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
