He was the son of I. E. and Janie Isabel Watkins Moore. The Moore family came to Pittsburg County from Arkansas on a train when he was two years of age. They spent their first night in the Stuart Hotel. He had lived here since that time. He was the husband of Mary Doris (Kelley) Moore. They married Dec. 4, 1937 in McAlester. He was active in the floral business at several of the local florists in McAlester, retiring after 21 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Drill Instructor for the Mounted Cavalry at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal for his service. He was honorably discharged Dec. 4, 1945. He was a member of the North "A" Street Church of Christ. He was survived by his wife, Mary Doris; daughter Norma Robinson of Derby, Kan.; son and daughter in law, Leon and JoAnn Moore of McAlester; daughter, Rita McElhaney of McAlester; brothers, Eldred Moore of McAlester and Morris Moore of Moore; sister, Bessie Kelley of McAlester; grandchildren and spouses, Mona and Rob Martin of Derby, Kan.; Robby and Holly Robinson of Amarillo, Texas; Marlon and Debbie Moore and Larry and Amy Moore all of McAlester; Kathe and Hugh Wein of Broken Arrow; Peggy and Joe Bleichroth of Houston, Texas; Carla McElhaney Marriott of Buford, S. C. and Glenn Marlott of Tuscon, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Orpha Cummins and Doris Moore; two brothers, Jessie and Junior Moore and a granddaughter, Mary Susan Anderson. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 24, 1995 with Arnold Johnson officiating.
