Actor. He was best known to television viewers as the lawyer Tony Petrocelli on the NBC legal drama "Petrocelli" from 1974 to 1976. He earned a B.A. in anthropology from Brandeis University and, while a student at the university, met Lee Strasberg, who inspired him to go into acting. He went on to appear in such films as "Vanishing Point" (1971), "Daylight" (1996), "The Limey" (1999), and "Bowfinger" (1999). The next year, he made his television debut on the series "Way Out." His role in "Petrocelli" earned him a nomination for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Primetime Emmy in 1975. After being diagnosed with vocal-cord cancer in 2009, he stepped back from acting, but returned in 2022 in the independent film "Finding Hannah."
