Adam Blake (Blick) was one of the first children born here in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois (the first child born in Johnsburg, was Nicholas Schmitt, born
7 October 1841, son of Jacob Schmitt, one of three founders of Johnsburg in August of 1841). Adam's parents Mathias and Margaretha, along with their one year old son Philippe arrived at the Port of New York on 20 September 1842 aboard the ship Maria ~

Margaret Blake 47 Germany
Phillip Blake 19 Germany
Adam Blake 17 Illinois
Peter Blake 14 Illinois
Joseph Blake 10 Illinois
Elizabeth Blake 8 Illinois
John Blake 6 Illinois

Note: The surname Blick, through time became "Blake", for most descendants of this family. There are two sets of memorials for the parents of Adam, they were buried at St John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois, not at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in McHenry which was not established until 1896. Many burials at St John the Baptist Cemetery were recorded in church/cemetery records as "unknown location". I have linked Adam to the correct location of burial of his parents memorials. The other set of memorials, are at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois. The memorial stones were placed here at a much later date, by descendants and are most likely 'cenotaphs', placed there in memory of Mathias 'Blake', memorial# 61278594 and Margaretha 'Blake', memorial# 61278708. Siblings of Adam are linked to the parent memorials at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery
