He captured the WWF World Heavyweight Championship in December of 1983, ending Bob Backlund's 5 year long reign. The Sheik would lose the title to Terry Bollea, AKA Hulk Hogan at the MSG on January 23, 1984. In 2005, The Iron Sheik was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He became a popular figure in the 2000's for his infamous rants & tweets on various topics and subjects. The Iron Sheik died at home in Fayetteville, Georgia, on June 7, 2023 at age 81.
