Alfred, a widower who was living in California, died of a heart attack in a taxi while en route to the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine and was buried in the New Cemetery there. He and his late wife, Caroline, a fellow Belgian emigre who died in California in 1918, had four daughters: Jeanne Marie (Croise) Zellick (1901-1980); Martha (Croise) Vivell; Alice Marie (Croise) Browne; and Madelyne Croise (1911-1922).
