Jean Peedin Thompson
October 6, 1947 - June 14, 2023

"Davie" Jean Peedin Thompson, age 75, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Born in Johnston County, she was a daughter to the late David Alvin Peedin and Doris Thompson Peedin.

Jean was a longtime member of Stevens Chapel Baptist Church in Smithfield and was specifically recognized by the church for her service with bulletin and flower work. Jean loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved crafting, crocheting, baking, and was known for her delicious egg custard pies. Jean never met a stranger and was a "mama" and "gramma" to everyone, with anyone who came into her home leaving as family. She was always a very kind, loving, and caring woman.

A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. just prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the A.W. Peedin Cemetery on Janie Road, Selma.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 56 years, Sherrill Thompson, and beloved son, Tim Thompson.

She is survived by her daughter, Leighanna Thompson Worley of Smithfield; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Thompson of Selma; brother, Lee Peedin and wife Brenda of Selma; grandchildren, Jessica Kuesel and husband Nolan, Preston Thompson, Michael Giggey, and great granddaughter, MacKenzie Giggey.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made for Jean's final expenses.

The family extends special thanks to the first responders, staff and members of Princeton Church of God.
