Nancy Niland Whiteley – June 12, 2023
On Monday, June 12, 2023, Nancy passed away peacefully at her home in Osterville, Massachusetts, surrounded by her husband Craig, family and friends. Nancy was 74 years old. She is survived by her husband, Craig Whiteley of Osterville, Massachusetts, a sister, Susan (Armand) Perry of Hilton Head, South Carolina and 5 brothers: Thomas (Beth) Niland of Syracuse, New York; Dennis (Anne) Niland of Baldwinsville, New York; John (Marilyn) Niland of Fayetteville, New York; Patrick Niland of Liverpool, New York and Jeffrey (Grace) Niland of West Hartford, Connecticut, along with 14 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Thomas J. Niland, Jr. and Phyllis Meltzoff Niland of Syracuse, New York.
Nancy grew up in Syracuse, New York where she graduated from the Convent School. Later she attended Canisius College and graduated from the Sisters of Charity Nursing School of Buffalo where she earned her Nursing degree. She began nursing at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. In 1978 she moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she embarked on her professional career in nursing at Cape Cod Hospital for more than 40 years. She held positions of increasing responsibilities at the hospital to include Staff Nurse, Nurse Manager and Nursing Supervisor. Also, during this same period, she worked as a Nursing Supervisor at the Mid Cape Medical Center. Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Nancy loved the theater and was actively involved with the Barnstable Comedy Club and attended many productions throughout the Cape at local theaters. Nancy and Craig enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Naples, Florida.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the individuals who supported both Nancy and Craig during this difficult time.
