YANCEY, Louise Sullivan "Her children arise and call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28)." Louise Sullivan Yancey 1931 - 2023 went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 5th after a brief illness. Louise was preceded in death by her mother Irma Louise Galloway Sullivan and her father John Henry Sullivan, brother John Sullivan and wife Mary Irene, brother Bruce Sullivan and wife Betty, sister Margaret Wilborn and husband William, and brother Dr. George Sullivan and his wife Mary Morgan. Louise is survived by her husband James D. Yancey, Jr, son David and his wife Libby, and grandson David R. Yancey, son Richard and his wife Wendy and grandson Nathan Yancey and granddaughters Anna and Rachel Yancey, and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Louise was born in 1931 into a loving Christian home. She graduated from Corsicana High school in 1948 and went on to graduate from Austin College in 1952. After graduation Louise taught elementary school in Midland, Houston and in Dallas at Old City Park. A life-long Christian, Louise met her husband and soulmate at the Timothy Class at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, where she was a 60-year plus member. Her love for world missions and missionaries fueled her involvement with the HPPC Missions Committee and Missions Circle. Louise was dedicated to children with her teaching career and in teaching Sunday School for 30 years. She never let an opportunity go by to bring a meal to a neighbor in need. Louise dedicated herself to family, always being there for her husband and sons. She gave back through the PTA, tutoring in the Dallas Schools, and in every youth activity, from Cub Scouts, to youth sports to band boosters. After family, friends meant everything to Louise. She was an encourager and a prolific letter writer. Louise kept up with her friends from Corsicana, Austin College, and Highland Park Presbyterian Church with lots of cards and letters. She always remembered birthdays and other special occasions with a card and a call. A memorial worship service will be held on January 18th at 2:00pm in the sanctuary at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Reverend Dr. Nelson Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HP Pres Global Missions, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd. Dallas, TX 75205.
