Irene Zeppelin passed peacefully in her sleep on June 16, 2023, in Ithaca, NY.
She is survived by her two younger siblings Veta and David, her two daughters Katherine and Victoria, as well as their respective families. She was predeceased by her parents Berta and Sigismund.
Irene was born on June 10, 1938 in Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering at top of her class and with highest honors.
Irene emigrated from Russia in 1972 with her daughter Katherine and husband Paul. Upon arrival to the U.S., they initially settled in Nashville, TN, where Irene continued to study English and take night classes in Computer Sciences at a local college. After the birth of her second daughter, Victoria, and her subsequent divorce, she made New York City her home.
Irene loved living in NYC and took full advantage of everything the city had to offer, such as her love of the arts and theatre. Irene had a long (20+ years) career at MetLife and was the Director of Data Technology and Marketing when she retired. Irene was a voracious reader and world traveler, having traveled to Antarctica and all over Europe. Her favorite place to visit was Italy.
She was a woman of grace and dignity.
