Corporal Nehemiah Gould served under the command of Captain Thomas Lawrence of Groton in the French and Indian War. During the skirmish at a place called Half-way Brook, July 20th, 1758, Captain Lawrence was killed with four of his men, including Nehemiah Gould. More than 20 soldiers were slain in the action and all but one scalped by the savage allies of the French.
