One of Campbelltown Catholic Club's founding fathers, Bruce McDonald, has died age 85.
Mr Mcdonald is remembered for his ongoing contributions to Campbelltown, and the early development of the area.
The father of six served as deputy town clerk for Campbelltown Council in the 1960s, before he became town clerk (now known as general manager) in the 70s.
He went on to become head of the Macarthur Development Board, and in this role played a part in the growth of the city.
Together with brother Ron McDonald and lawyer Bill Meehan, he founded the Campbelltown Catholic Club and became a long term member of the board.
Campbelltown Catholic Club chief executive officer Michael Lavorato said Mr McDonald had left a legacy that would not be forgotten.
"He was one of our pioneers, and one of the original five people in the 1960s who volunteered to construct and paint local catholic schools," he said.
"They thought up the idea of the club, where funds could go towards supporting local catholic education.
"He was on the board of directors for a number of years, helped find the location for our club and had strong ties to the community.
"His influence in shaping our club today will never be forgotten."
Mr Lavorato said Mr McDonald was the third member of the Catholic Club, and a lifelong member.
His son David is now following in his fathers footsteps.
"His legacy continues because his son David McDonald succeeded him on the board and is now our vice president," Mr Lavorato said.
"Our ideals at the club have not changed since those early days, and it's nice to know his legacy has been passed on."
Mr McDonald is survived by his six children and 17 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at St John the Evangelist Church, Campbelltown, on Thursday at 11am.
