Services for Pastor Bill Hamilton are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014 at Rockhill Baptist Church with Rev. Shelby Davidson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens.

Rev. Hamilton died August 9, 2014 at 9:42 p.m. at Hospice of East Texas, while surrounded by family and loved ones. While gazing into his wife's eyes, he gulped his last breath and then peered into the eternal fathers awaiting arms.
William Arthur Hamilton, Jr. was born July 9, 1937 in Clinton, South Carolina. He served in the United State Air Force for 9 years. He studied at Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado and graduated from Piedmont Technical College in South Carolina. He served as a police officer in Laurens, South Carolina and pastored three churches in the area.

He moved to East Texas in 1982 and drove a truck for Southland Corporation until 1988 when he started his own trucking business. He pastored for 15 years at Union Hill Baptist Church and served on many boards and committees for the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. He served in Circuit Riders Motorcycle Ministry in many positions, including Chapter President and the Spiritual Covering for the ministry. He was currently serving as the pastor of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Edom.

Bill had many hobbies, including fishing, motorcycling, gun smithing, carpentry, drag racing, cooking, but his favorite of all was spending time with his grand-kids.
He received many awards for his achievements in transportation and ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur and Hannah Hamilton infant daughter, Elizabeth Hamilton son, Danny Moore of Chandler and brothers, Ray Hamilton and Gene Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Charlie Hamilton of Chandler daughters and sons-in-law, Larissa Steve Williams of South Carolina, Becky Steve Edwards of Chandler, Ramona Scott Weeks of South Carolina, Misty Don West of Brownsboro sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Vanessa Hamilton of South Carolina, Ray Vickie Moore of Arkansas twenty-one grandchildren six great-grandchildren sister, Georgia Brewer brothers and sisters--inlaw, James Lane Hamilton and Jack Edith Hamilton sister and brother--inlaw, Elizabeth David Beaty and a multitude of nieces and nephews. His favorite companions were his German Sheperd, Doc Holiday and his partners in crime, Matt Luke Edwards.

The family wishes to thank all of the employees of Hospice of East Texas for their loving care for our patriarch. Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701, New Beginnings Baptist Church Youth Group in Edom, or Salvation Army of Tyler.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
