Henry Zuckammer, Corporal, Company B, 41 NY Infantry Regiment Volunteers, (known as DeKalbs Regiment) Composed exculsively of Germans many of which had fought in the Prussian Army against the Danes from 1848-51. Led by Capt. O Siberth, 1st Lt Weiss and 2nd Lt A. Trainer. They started out with 1050 men. Approximently 175,000 men of German birth or desent rallied to join the fight in the Civil War on the Union side. A 25 piece band was attached to the unit complete with a drum corps.
