Jessie Mattos, 80, of Nixa, passed away March 18, 2008. She was born June 19, 1927, in Menominee, Mich., the daughter of Edward and Valeria SEIDL who preceded her in death.
Jessie graduated from Menominee High School and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She was a licensed registered nurse and worked in various depths of the hospital. She was married in 1951 and resided in Illinois until 1959, then moved to Missouri where she continued in nursing, working at St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View for eight years and Beverly Health Care in Branson for 21 years. In Branson she received her teaching license to be able to teach and certify nursing assistants. In 1995 she retired and moved to Nixa. She became active by helping and visiting with the less fortunate. She enjoyed her family and children and belonged to the new St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Nixa.
Surviviors include one son, Greg Mattos and wife Joy, Kissee Mills; two daughters, Pamela Totten and husband Barney, Arkansas and Michele Bond and husband Dale, Nixa; five grandchildren, Eric Mattos and wife Stephanie, Georgia, Jessica Scott and husband Jay, Arkansas, Derek and Daniel Totten, Arkansas, and Richard Bond, Nixa; and two great grandchildren, Alex Mattos, Georgia and Landon Scott, Arkansas.
A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. March 24 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Nixa, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Father Mark Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery, Ozark.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. March 23 in the church, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
