Janine was my sister's Shar Pei. She was a wonderful, loyal dog who lived a long happy life. Below is the e-mail my sister sent out to tell us all of Janine's passing.

After a 18 month fight with cancer, we put Janine to rest today. She started having seizures a week ago Sunday. We took her to the vet last week and he gave her meds. She just was not ready yet.

Between yesterday and today, everything went to pieces. She stopped seeing. She could not eat or drink. She was weak and could not stand. All she could do is lay and struggle to breathe. This afternoon, we took her back to the vet and he agreed, it was time. She went peacefully.

We love you bean girl! Rest in Peace.

An update from Janine's "mommy":
Danny is at peace with this. I just cry alot and miss her terribly. The doxies are good. Meg spent alot of time with her yesterday. She knew. Jamie wanted no parts of this. She avoided Janine all day. Janine laid on her blankey in the Carolina Room all day yesterday. She loved the sun in there, so at least she got to spend her last day in her favorite spot.

We are having her cremated. We get her ashes in about 7 days. I am not sure what we are going to do with them. I had thought of bringing them back to PA and burying them with Mom and Dad. Mom loved her. They were buds. She made Mom feel safe.

What I am going to do is plant a wisteria vine in her honor. The area is covered in wisteria right now. They are in full bloom and beautiful. Also in bloom is the carolina jasmine which are yellow. The yellow and purple make a striking contrast.

Right now, Danny has the doxies in a tug of war. Life goes on....
