Warren Leonard was born in the town of Pierrepont on June 8, 1876, the son of Philip and Ann Goodwin Leonard. He spent much of his mature life in Gouverneur, where he was employed with the Pioneer Ice Cream Co. of Gouverneur for thirty-five years, retiring in 1947.

He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Mae LaBarge of Helena. She died in 1914. His second wife was Helen Phillips.

He was survived wife, a son, three daughters, a steep son, and two brothers.
