Edward Dixon (E.D.) was born in Vincennes,Knox Co., Indiana. He left his parents in Illinois in 1843 and came to Texas. He fought in the Mexican War, was a Texas Ranger with Big Foot Wallace, who was also his friend, and Henry Robinson. He was a scout for the confederacy around Uvalde,Texas, fought Indians and is written up in the Handbook Of Texas Online. He is also in A.J. Sowells Book. There is a library branch (Westfall Library) named in his honor in San Antonio, Texas.
A composition of everything written about him and his life, that is known, is in the Westfall Branch Library on Vance Jackson St., and at the DRT Alamo Library in San Antonio done by Wanda Swearingen Westfall and Debra Harper Westfall.
Edward's journals are in the main library in the Texana Section in San Antonio.
His grave is marked by the DRT Medallion as a Citizen of Texas and also by the Texas Ranger Cross.
